Metamorphism and anatexis
during rapid exhumation of the Western Himalaya, Northern Pakistan.
Here we present a study of geochemistry, zircon U-Pb chronology and Hf isotopes on the Yamarong leucogranites from Tsona area, Eastern Himalaya, to explore the petrogenesis of the rocks, and to further expain related problems of continental crustal anatexis
. The zircon U-Pb dating displayed two ages of magmatism, 14.4 Ma and 17 Ma respectively.
(2006) conclude that the following mechanisms, operating alone, are able to induce anatexis
in typical pelitic rocks: 1) Magmatic advection by pervasive flow, 2) Crustal-scale detachment faulting, and 3) The presence of a high-heat producing layer.
The presence of migmatites in the lower crustal level implies that the granitoid was formed by the lower crustal anatexis
of the mafic rocks derived from BABB source.

Isotope analyses suggest that domes ascending from anatexis
zones within the lower crust and the upper mantle exerted strong thermal and structural influence; however, ore deposition occurred at the subvolcanic level and at shallow depth.
Both sites are placed in the Krkonose-Jizera granitic Massif and its high-metamorphic rock-coat roots which due to the anatexis
origin of the Massif may reach deep parts of the lower lithosphere.
