It was a week ago yesterday (as I write this column) that I visited a small village a two-hour vehicle ride from Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. The village was located along a dusty, dirt road a few kilometers from the nearest pavement.
Besides operating flights between Lilongwe and Beira, the Malawian Airlines offers service between the capital of Malawi and the capital cities of the Mozambican central provinces of Tete and northern Nampula.
Getting there The easiest way to reach the Mozambican side of Lake Niassa is to fly into Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. Kenya Airways offers return flights from Heathrow to Lilongwe via Nairobi from around 750 [pounds sterling] return.
