We measured the morphological characteristics of all shrew-moles in the sample: body weight, tail length and maximum tail width without hairs (here, called as "tail width") as an external measurement; and greatest length of skull, caudal vertebra length, and maximum caudal vertebra width (here, called as "caudal vertebra width") as skeletal measurements (Table 1, Figs.
Caudal vertebra selection: In both rounds 1 and 2, the highest level of inter-observer agreement on caudal vertebrae selection in a single case was 0.71 (case 6 in round 1 and cases 2 and 4 in round 2).
Besides the caudal vertebra ( part of tail) of Titanosaurus indicus , researchers have found bones of another species Titanosaurus blanfordi and other Triassic vertebrates which were all presumed missing.
Thus, it is not a thoracic or pelvic vertebra, and it is too morphologically complex to be a caudal vertebra. Based on these considerations, we interpret the Manasquan specimen to represent a mammalian cervical vertebra (CV).
