2): Glandular, elongated flat tubercles; on lectotype at 16-22 below clitellar edges, extending to middle of the body, separated by narrow segmented field; on paralectotype less developed, on 17-21.
priollii specimens examined in this study had recently secreted cocoons thus explaining the absence of albumen-secreting cells, though the abundance of granulated Type II/III-like cells throughout the clitellar epidermis does not support this hypothesis (Grove and Cowley, 1927; Sayers et al., 2009).
Male pores occur variably in clitellar area, although difficult to detect externally.
Description: Secondary annulation exists in some anterior segments: 1-3 short, simple, with irregular longitudinal grooves; 4-6 with 2 simple ringlets similar in size and appearance; 7-9 with two ringlets, randomly annulated; 10-12 superficially divided into two annuli; clitellar segments dorsally simple, ventrally irregularly annulated; post-clitellar segment simple, randomly annulated.
Setae numerous, absent at clitellar area, although present in some specimens.
debbieae Plisko, howickianus 2003 Michaelsen, 1913 Dimensions 80-85x6-6.5 mm 58-60x4-6 mm Segment 1-3 simple, 4-9 1-3 simple with description divided into 2 longitudinal equal ringlets, grooves, 4-9 with 8 & 9 with front 2 simple ringlets, larger than back, similar size & 10 and rest are appearance, post simple clitellar simple No.
Curiously, in some of these species, at the ventral clitellar area some discrepancy in the setal arrangement of ab setae was observed.
In clitellar area ab are sporadically uplifted dorsally to cd pairs.
lesothoensis, identified more than three decades after Michaelsen (1933) described timmianus, exhibits the possible occurrence of the spermathecae in pre-testicular segments observed on histological slides, and some irregularities in the arrangement of setae in clitellar segments.
In the clitellar area a distance between ab pairs is slightly smaller than preclitellarly, although no irregular uplifting of setae was noted.
This species, although most similar to lesothoensis and adami in having both spermathecal pores immediately next to testicular segment, in 9/10 and 10/11; differs in the arrangement of setae, not manifesting any discrepancy in the clitellar area.
Setae are irregularly shifted in the clitellar area, confirming the species' accreditation to the lesothoensis species-group.
