Moreover, the presence of carbon-carbon double bonds in the cycling ring structure or in its side chains produces the weak bands positioned at 3070 (vCH from C=C bonds) and 1645 (vC=C) [cm.sup.-1], and the peak at 890 [cm.sup.-1] (out-of-plane bending of the exomethylene groups) which appears sharp and weak-to-moderate in dammar resin. Differently from diterpenoid resins, mastic and dammar do not clearly show the O-H vibrations of dimerized carboxyl groups in the region of 2700-2500 [cm.sup.-1].
