eutectic mixture

A mixture of two or more substances which melts at the lowest freezing point of any mixture of the components. This temperature is the eutectic point. The liquid melt has the same composition as the solid.

Rub-on agents that numb the skin, such as EMLA (eutectic mixture of local anesthetics) cream, can help dampen vaccination pain.
Lidocaine and prilocaine when used a eutectic mixture has been proven to be more effective than conventional topical anesthesia.7 When applied for 5 minutes, this mixture achieves greater topical anesthesia and reduces pain significantly during palatal infiltration.
Anesthetic agents often used are eutectic mixture of local anesthetics (EMLA) cream, ethyl chloride, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), lidocaine, and opioid [4-6].
[48] investigated the thermal properties of eutectic mixture LiN[O.sub.3]/KN[O.sub.3]/NaN[O.sub.3] via DSC.
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) can be basically defined as a mixture of a hydrogen bond donor (HBD) and a hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) which can bond with each other to form a eutectic mixture having a final melting point that is lower than the melting point of the raw materials (HBD) and (HBA), separately [4].
9,744,109 B2; Conopco has patented an active eutectic mixture of butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane and isopropyl myristate that has a melting point below 15[degrees]C, and further wherein the mixture comprises 12-hydroxystearic acid.
To keep the indoor air temperature below -18[degrees]C, the eutectic mixture with the phase change temperature equal to -33[degrees]C is used.
DES is generally composed of two or three nontoxic components, forming eutectic mixture with a much lower melting point than either of the individual components [18].
Topical anesthetic application, such asEMLA (Eutectic mixture of local anesthetics:lidocaine 2.5%-prilocaine 2.5%) creamapplied 60 to 120 minutes prior to intralesionalanesthetic injection has been found in multiple studies to attenuate injection pain.17 Similarly,LET solution (lidocaine, epinephrine, tetracaine) application 30 minutes before wound/laceration closure, prior to actual lidocaine infiltration has been found to decrease the pain.18The disadvantage with these techniques is the extra time required for EMLA or LET to show the effect.
With the advent of Eutectic Mixture of Local Anaesthetics (EMLA) cream, effective topical analgesia of intact skin is now claimed to be feasible without the need for subcutaneous injections or exposure to high concentrations of local anaesthetics.
A eutectic mixture of local anaesthetics (EMLA), which consists of 2.5% lidocaine and 2.5% prilocaine, is a topical analgesic that works by blocking pain transmission to the brain.
_: AbstractObjective: To assess the effect of Eutectic Mixture of Local Anaesthetics cream and rattle on soothing the vaccination pain on four-month-infants.Methods: The single blind randomised clinical trial was conducted from May 2012 to February 2013 at a clinic under the Gonabad University of Medical Sciences Iran and comprised four-month infants who were selected randomly and divided into three groups.
