An international team of astronomers has spotted an impending galactic megamerger from the early universe, one in which fourteen young, star busting galaxies are about to collide to form the core of one of the most massive objects in the known universe - a galactic cluster.
By creating seven models of the galactic cluster using data from Hubble and other instruments, including VLT-MUSE and Keck, researchers predicted the reappearance of the Refsdal supernova late fall the next year.
Note that the first point in the galactic density profile is not representative of the average density as the sample volume is very small; hence, the measure represents the density in the neighbouring galactic cluster of the Milky Way (figure 2 and 3).
This new Hubble image of the core of the cluster represents the first comprehensive far ultraviolet to near-infrared image of an open galactic cluster. It was created from images taken through seven filters, allowing viewers to see details never seen before.
During the impact, the hot gases of one galactic cluster slowed down the hot gases of the other.
A computer would randomly pick a point on the sphere, a length of rod, and then a rule-based version of the galactic cluster formations that would have appeared at that time.

While it is likely that Herschel did see the stars that we now know belong to a galactic cluster, it is unclear whether he viewed them as a gravitationally bound system, especially since he does not mention which stars are involved in the nebula or how many there are.
The galactic cluster is in a QCM quantization state.
Perhaps you've observed a galactic cluster next to a galaxy, or a globular cluster near a planetary nebula, or ...
The image of the galactic cluster, located roughly 3.5 billion light-years from the Earth, was released Wednesday.
