Hansom cab

Designed by J. A. Hansom around 1834. It had a boxy body, two wheels, was pulled by one horse, and had provisions for the driver outside the cab. Often the driver stood on a platform at the back of the vehicle. The platform was mounted high enough on the vehicle for the driver to see over the top of the carriage.
