Over the past several weeks, a Killdeer Plover was seen nesting at the construction project site for Robertet Flavors Inc.'s future liquid compounding facility in Piscataway, N.J.
After confirming that the Killdeer Plover was a protected species and the nesting area should not be disturbed, Robertet Flavors stopped all activity and vacated the project site until the birds hatched and the mother left with her young.
"Robertet Flavors and Skanska agreed that it was our duty to act responsibly and follow the Audubon Society's direction so that the Killdeer Plover could bear her young in peace," stated Skanska's superintendent Henry Lewis.
