The prizes were presented by Keith Drysdale, waste manager, Chapelcross

Wylfa site's priority to remove fuel elements from the most powerful
Magnox reactors in the world and transport them to Sellafield for reprocessing has progressively gained momentum throughout the year to achieve this new landmark.

Magnox work programme."
The reference to the use of virtual reality testing in the new Sellafield contract could be a sign that Babcock wants to avoid finding itself in a similar situation as with the
Magnox deal.
Sellafield's
Magnox plant reprocesses spent fuel from across the UK, but ONR inspectors found a failure to act on operating instructions.
Magnox blamed the cuts on the streamlining of the decommissioning process.
The company, which has worked with
Magnox since 2005, will service seven sites that are currently being decommissioned, two that are being de-fuelled and Wylfa - the only remaining
Magnox site that's still generating.
Magnox is responsible for managing 10 of the UK's first generation of nuclear power stations, and the new contract will involve Hertel providing scaffolding, mechanical and rope access, asbestos removal and insulation maintenance at sites over the next four years.
To assess the different fuel element designs of the first
Magnox reactors a notional fuel element, incorporating the novel features of the different designs, was loaded into a Calder Hall reactor in a number of channels.
