One of them is Manumea. This tooth-billed pigeon is found only in the Samoan forests on the islands of Upolu and Savai'i in Oceania.
A recent intensive search in the Savai'i uplands confirmed that Manumea numbers are critically low and now there are plans to uplist them to critically endangered.
Thanks to the MBZ Fund's $5000 grant, researchers have now isolated four areas where Manumea occur and breeding has been confirmed too in one of these areas.
