A principal component analysis (PCA) of the shape yields the directions of major and
minor axis. Height is measured along the major axis and width along the
minor axis.
The experimental data, much the same as the theoretical data in the numerical analysis (Stanham, McCarthy, and Stappenbelt 2016), showed that a large phase difference between the water column heave velocity and the structure heave velocity (gradient of 135[degrees]) is not essential to power production in a floating wave energy converter and cannot be attributed to the length of either the major or
minor axis but is rather just a characteristic of the system set-up at a particular forcing period.
The mean
minor axis lengths of the biopsy samples were 1.50[+ or -]0.50 mm and 1.38[+ or -]0.40 mm in the StF group and SmF group, respectively, with samples in the SmF group tending to be shorter than those in the StF group (p=0.088).
The shape and intensity features extracted for both regions R1 and R2 are: the major and
minor axis lengths, the area, the centre of gravity or mass, and the average intensity.
The image cleaning process includes two steps: first, objects with less than a certain number of pixels ([N.sub.p]) are cast out, and second, an axis ratio index (ARI), which is defined as the ratio of the major axis length to the
minor axis length of an object, is employed.
Nine morphology features were calculated: six from the size of the nucleus (area, perimeter, equivalent diameter, convex area, length of the major axis, and length of the
minor axis) and three from the shape of the nucleus (eccentricity, solidity, and extent).
(2) The transmit coil (Tx coil) is modelled 5th winding form with a 5 cm round coil, and the receive coil (Rx coil) is modelled 5th winding by an elliptical coil with a major axis of 3 cm and a
minor axis of 0.7 cm.
Volume, major axis and
minor axis mean values were significantly different in comparisons of eggs from summer and winter of 2001 and 2002 (Table 3).
Canny edge detection was used to identify features at the center of the seed namely maximum length of detected edge, ratio major and
minor axis, number of pixel, maximum convolution, and number of intersection.
An oversize 63-mm (
minor axis) secondary provides excellent field illumination for larger DSLR or CCD cameras.
Figure 2 shows the amplitudes of the reflectance under the illumination of waves polarized along the major axis and the
minor axis of the elliptical disk.
The major axis,
minor axis, and the focal distance of the elliptical cavity are A, B, and C in Figure 2, respectively.
