Further study is required to investigate the effectiveness of topical
mydriatic drugs in pigeons.
Gellat and Willams (1985) suggested treating the surgical defects as sterile corneal ulcer with topical antibiotics and
mydriatic drugs. Similar post-operative care was followed in the present study.
* Patients with light coloured irises respond quicker and to a greater extent to
mydriatic drugs and hence a lower drug dosage/concentration should be considered.
It may be preferable to give topical
mydriatic drugs 30 to 60 minutes prior to induction of general anesthesia to assess adequacy of mydriasis before induction (5).
