The volatile compounds produced during microbial degradation of carbohydrates, proteins, and other nonrubber
components of NR generate the offensive odor [2-5].
The degradation of the first step for all samples observed at 226-252[degrees]C ([T.sub.onset 1]), 287-296[degrees]C ([T.sub.end set 1]), and 268.5- 284.8[degrees]C ([T.sub.max 1]) was attributed to the low molecular weight compounds such as nonrubber
components and impurities as well as additives [15, 16] and has a weight loss of 6.7-8.1%, whereas the second step observed at 362.7-379.7[degrees]C ([T.sub.onset 2]), 419.4- 435[degrees]C ([T.sub.end set 2]), and 385-401[degrees]C ([T.sub.max 2]) was attributed to the main degradation of rubber hydrocarbon, corresponding to the weight loss of 76.2-87.1%.
It is a milky, colloidal fluid is comprised of 30-40% of rubber hydrocarbon particles suspended in a serum together with 55-65% of water, 5% of other nonrubber
substances such as 1.1-2% of proteins, lipids, resins, and sugars, and some metals (http://www.srilankabusiness.com/rubber/natural-rubber.html (accessed on April 10, 2015)).
This effect was more pronounced in guayule than Hevea rubber due to differences in rubber structure and composition (nonrubber
(producer and distributor of concentrated rubber latex, Guaranta, Brazil) of about 60% dry rubber content, 4-5% weight of nonrubber
constituents such as protein, lipids, carbohydrates, and sugar, and 35% of water [18-20].
The NR generally contains small amounts of nonrubber
components such as protein and lipid.
Department of Commerce, Opportunities for Increasing Markets and Employment in the Shoe Industry (Nonrubber
) (Washington, D.C., 1966), 23.
The waste board's emissions study examined 77 products--43 considered alternative and 34 labeled standard--including such residential-applicable items as carpeting, fiberboard, gypsum board, plastic laminates, resilient flooring (rubber and nonrubber
based), and thermal insulation.
As a plant material, latex contains not only rubber (about 30%, in the form of particles), but also nonrubber
substances such as proteins, carbohydrates, and some minerals.
The Medicare reimbursement rate for nonrubber
pessaries ranges from $42.66-$56.88, but the rate for rubber pessaries, which aren't as commonly used, is only $17.
Although the ITC found that the industry had been injured by imports and recommended relief, President Gerald Ford refused to implement the recommendations.(42) A month after the decision, imports of nonrubber
footwear reached a record high of 49 percent of the domestic market.(43)
Uruguay Round tariff reductions will help the leather tanning and selected segments of the nonrubber
footwear and luggage industries further to expand exports to developed countries (USDC/ITC, 1994).
