OMBUDSMAN
Se conoce con el nombre de ombudsman al funcionario encargado de investigar las quejas de los ciudadanos contra una institución determinada. En el Reino Unido, el ombudsman que se ocupa de los casos de administración fraudulenta en los ministerios del gobierno, el NHS y otros organismos institucionales es el Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration. Su jurisdicción se limita al área administrativa del gobierno, pero no afecta a su política o legislación. Otros ombudsmen se nombran para estudiar las quejas que provienen de los clientes de instituciones financieras, como por ejemplo el Banking ombudsman, el Building Societies ombudsman o el Insurance Ombudsman. En Estados Unidos, los ombudsmen llevan a cabo labores similares de investigación de instituciones, tanto en el sector público como en el privado.
