Many studies have also reported increased fatty infiltration within the paraspinal muscles of patients with low back pain (9) and long-term denervation (10).
It has relatively less side effects and is simpler in terms of techniques than intraspinal treatments due to its direct access to facet joints through paraspinal muscles.4 Studies reported that FJI is effective not only in axial back pain by facet joints but also lumbar spinal stenosis.5,6 Moreover, we showed previously an excellent outcome in patients diagnosed with LSS by performing FJI.4 Therefore, in this study, we tried to assess the effects of FJI on LSS patients based on retrospective analysis and literature review.
(18) DSM, CT myelography and GdM may suggest the fistula by depicting contrast in a paraspinal venous structure after the infusion of subarachnoid contrast (Figure 9).
Motor and sensory conduction studies of the ulnar, median, radial and dorsal ulnar cutaneous (DUC) nerves of right hand and electromyography (EMG) of the abductor digiti minimi (ADM), flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU), flexor digitorum profundus (FDP), abductor pollicis brevis (APB), extensor indicis proprius (EIP), cervical 8 (C8) and thoracal 1 ([T.sub.1]) paraspinal muscles were performed to exclude lower brachial plexopathy or C8-T1 radiculopathy.
There was no main difference between DN of TrPs of upper trapezius muscles and DN of TrPs plus paraspinal muscles (p<0.05) but using Cohen's d, DN of TrPs of upper trapezius plus paraspinal muscle produced small effect (not significant) but in favor of the DN TrPs plus paraspinal muscles.
The study uses 6 paraspinal injections of the stem cells in paralyzed patients both at the level of the damaged segment and segments above and below this level combined with intravenous and intranasal stem cells.
