Sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE), periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) alcian blue (AB), AB pH 2.5, AB pH 2.5- PAS (Pearse et al., 1985; Grimelius, 1968), which displayed the fanclus abomasi, corpus abomasi and pars pylorica, respectively.
Acquired gastric diverticula (AGD) are false or pseudodiverticula, that is, pulsion-type herniation through the gaps in the muscular layer of the gastric wall, and are located usually in the antrum or in the pars pylorica of the stomach [2, 4].
Two of the three had yellow-tan, caseous necrosis of the palatine tonsils and multiple caseous yellow-tan plaques, 2- to 10-mm in diameter, on the mucosal surfaces of the esophagus, corpus, and pars pylorica. Only scant ingesta were noted throughout the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and the intestinal mucosa was hemorrhagic in rare instances.
