Each stroke of the piston expels the fluid contained in the displacement volume of the piston chamber. The displaced volume is the volume between the bottom of the feed slots and bottom stroke of the piston.
To realize quick response shift changes, the piston chamber volume for each clutch and brake was reduced to prevent longer shift response due to piston or cylinder distortion at clutch engagement.
This gas is directed into the top forward end of the magazine tube, the forward half of which serves as a gas piston chamber. The piston is connected through a channel cut into the top of the magazine tube/piston chamber to the split rods of a slide arm.
If one actuator moves, one of the pistons is affected directly because the outlet area of the upper piston chamber becomes smaller.

A variable aperture valve admits expanding gas from a barrel vent into a piston chamber driving the transfer rod back against a flat at the top of the bolt carrier causing the cam-actuated bolt to unlock.
Note that the threads are cut to full depth down to the lip of the gas piston chamber. If you recut or clean these threads, you'll need to modify your tap so it is a true bottoming tap and cut right up to the lip of this chamber.
The operator places the rubber roll in the piston chamber; the machine closes; the piston pushes the rubber roll into the transfer pot; the machine closes and is under clamp; material is transferred into the mold; the part is molded; the press opens; the transfer pad (waste) is removed; and the part is demolded.
The single integrated piston chamber of the Cal = Trak XL can measure flows from 5 to 500 sL/min over a 100:1 range.
This method requires designing the piston chamber geometry.
