Charadrius semipalmatus Bonaparte, 1825 (Charadriidae), commonly known as Semipalmated Plover
, is a migrating bird that leaves the Arctic lakes, rivers and swamps in the winter (Nol and Blanken, 1999).
The agency has also gunned down the brown-headed cowbird, boat-tailed grackle, common raven, American crow, fish crow and waterfowl and wading birds that relish the coastal wetlands neighboring Kennedy, such as the wood duck, bufflehead, American wigeon, semipalmated plover
, sanderling, least sandpiper, black-crowned night heron, great egret and cattle egret, according to Port Authority records.
Ten other species--American golden-plover, Baird's sandpiper (Calidris bairdii), black-bellied plover, buff-breasted sandpiper (Tryngites subruficollis), long-billed dowitcher, pectoral sandpiper, ruddy turnstone, sanderling, semipalmated plover
(Charadrius semipalmatus), and stilt sandpiper--were present at some or all camps in each year, but not more than ~300 individuals of all these species combined were observed at any one camp in a given year (Table 4).
Small plovers, including Piping Plover, Snowy Plover, and Semipalmated Plover
, occurred mainly on High Mudflat/Pool and on High Algal Mudflat.
Influence of arctic terns on survival of artificial and natural semipalmated plover
The lower river near Long Beach features significant migrant species, including the western sandpiper, least sandpiper, black-necked stilt, long-billed dowitcher, semipalmated plover
and black-bellied plover.
Conversely, American golden-plover, semipalmated plover
, and pectoral sandpiper occurrences were significantly higher, and the occurrences of Baird's sandpipers and stilt sandpipers were nearly significantly higher, in the eastern foothills stratum (Table 1).

There were three semipalmated plovers
