Huda Fakhro met with a delegation from Abu Dhabi (UAE), where they discussed means of cooperation between the two nations in the field of roads infrastructure, especially in relation to the revamp and expansion of Sh. Zayed Highway.
At the beginning of the meeting, Fakhro welcomed the delegation and provided them with a detailed explanation about Sh. Zayed Revamp and Expansion Project, which is supported by Abu Dhabi Development Fund and is part of the Gulf Development Programme.
Phase 1 comprises of expanding the highway into 3 lanes on each direction; starting from 16 December Avenue and ending at Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Highway, in addition to the point from the Western Roundabout (near Salmabad Roundabout) until Sh.
Over the years, Sh. Khalifa has managed to function in a way which does not create friction within the decision making structures of Abu Dhabi or the UAE.
Born in 1947 as the first son of Sh. Zayed from the latter's first wife, Khalifa began his apprenticeship to become ruler at a young age.
A few months later that position was given to Sh. Tahnoun bin Muhammad al- Nahyan, a member of the Bani Khalifa group, who has served as chairman of ADNOC and is now a member of the SPC.
