Reports presenting patients with thoracic empyema or lung abscess as a complication of appendicitis in the preoperative or postoperative period were eligible.
The overall median duration of chest tube drainage was 4 days and median postoperative hospital stay was 5 days (range 2-45 days) except for patients with thoracic empyema.
We hereby present the case of a 38-year-old patient with alcoholic cirrhosis who was diagnosed with HH complicated by thoracic empyema. The patient was treated with medical thoracoscopy (MT) and talc pleurodesis.
