Gouty arthritis is the most common manifestation in patients with gout; however, chronic HUA can cause or aggravate the damage to multiple organs, which may be complicated by renal disease (acute urate nephropathy, chronic urate nephropathy, and nephrolithiasis), hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cardiac insufficiency, and stroke.
Four patients had acute urate nephropathy (three patients had acute leukemia and one patient had multiple myeloma).
