Conclusion: Permanent impairment in the conjugation of cell and tissue components in mucosa accompanied by the change of an epithelial layer synthetic function with the impaired physicochemical properties of gastric mucin results in intestinal
metaplasia as early as in childhood.
Of the Hp-positive patients, 331(82.5%) had chronic active gastritis, 56(13.9%) had chronic non-specific gastritis, 11(2.7%) had gastritis with intestinal
metaplasia and 4(0.9%) had chronic atrophic gastritis (Table-2).
Gastric foveolar
metaplasia was also identified (Figure 4(a), blue square, and Figure 4(c)).
Chronic inflammation was seen in 70 cases (70%), activity in 15 cases (15%), glandular atrophy in 2 cases (2%) and intestinal
metaplasia in 2 cases (2%).
Apocrine carcinomas also known as apocrine
metaplasia or sweat gland carcinoma are very rare variant of invasive breast malignancies with an incidence less than 1%.
Sergii Vernygorodskyi from the Department of Pathological Anatomy at Vinnitsa National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Ukraine, has studied the role of the infamous corkscrew-shaped "gut bug" in the formation of intestinal
metaplasia of the gastric mucosa (mucous membrane layer of the stomach).
CIN starts at the transformation zone, especially in relation to the squamous
metaplasia and reserve cell hyperplasia.
Microscopic examination revealed that the mass was a benign polyp with osseous
metaplasia. Many mature lamellar bony trabeculae were present within it.
Group A and Group B had significant high intestine
metaplasia and mucosal inflammation score than those in control group.
GlobalData's clinical trial report, "Myeloid
Metaplasia Global Clinical Trials Review, H2, 2015" provides an overview of Myeloid
Metaplasia clinical trials scenario.
We hypothesized that Hyal and HAS expressions also change in bronchial
metaplasia and dysplasia, and in atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, which are thought to be stages in the development of squamous cell lung carcinoma (25,26) and adenocarcinoma, respectively.
To increase the accuracy of endoscopic diagnosis, we carried out an additional chromoendoscopy with methylene blue staining allowing the detection of foci of intestinal
metaplasia (IM) of gastric mucosa which were unrecognized by routine endoscopy.
