peacock pheasant, a cultural fixture for the province's indigenous peoples that also appears in the city seal of Puerto Princesa.
A newly acquired 11-mo-o grey peacock pheasant (Polyplectron bicalcaratum) died after presenting apathy and complete lack of food ingestion over a period of 18 days.

There are four species of pheasants in the peasantry including ring necked pheasant, silver pheasant,
peacock pheasant and white pheasant.
Eight of the species are under the IUCN's vulnerable category: The Chinese egret (Egretta eulophotes); Falcated ground babbler (Ptilocichla falcate); Palawan flycatcher (Ficedula platenae); Palawan hornbill, Palawan
peacock pheasant (Polyplectron emphanum); Blue-headed racquet tail (Prioniturus plateni); Grey imperial pigeon (Ducula pickeringii); and the Philippine duck.
The giant reserve also boasts the endangered double yellow-headed amazons, which are popular pets as they are excellent talkers, golden and
peacock pheasants, silvery-cheeked hornbills from South Africa that live between 40 to 50 years, and colourful toucans from South Mexico, Central and South America.
