"But if
Sadr insists on his stubbornness, we will not sit down to cry over the ruins."
Yet
Sadr is a complicated man, and he is pulled by much grander ambitions than sectarianism.
The two men came in first and second in last May's election, with Al
Sadr promising to curb Iranian influence in Iraqi politics, while Al Amiri -- a staunchly pro-Iran figure -- campaigned on the exact opposite.
Now any reform which does go through would risk looking like a victory for
Sadr and cause more trouble among Iraq's rival Shi'ite leaders.
BEIRUT: The family of disappeared Shiite Imam Musa
Sadr Thursday called on judicial authorities in Lebanon to clamp down on Bushra Khalil, Hannibal Gadhafi's former lawyer.
Sadr continued his resistance against the US-led foreign occupation of Iraq.
Sadr was the founder of Amal, a Shiite political and military group, that is separate from Hezbollah, which Iran helped to form in 1982.
Sadr's political career began with his fierce opposition to the presence of foreign troops in Iraq after the 2003 US-led invasion of the country that toppled Saddam.
