Mucosal symptoms included oral ulceration in 5 patients, nasal obstruction in 12 patients, and
lacrimal duct obstruction in 2 patients (in 1 patient, cartilage involvement of the sternoclavicular joint near the primary CL lesion was also noted).
Dacroadenitis was diagnosed in 2 (0.7%) cases while chronic Osteomyelitis, Abscess, inflamed
lacrimal duct cyst, canaliculitis, Pemphigus Vulgaris and Actinomycosis were seen in 1 (0.4%) cases each.
The lacrimal sac is an enlargement of the upper portion of the
lacrimal duct, and the
lacrimal duct is the passageway that drains excess tears into the nose (Ehrlich, et al., 2017).
Since the diameter of the NLD bone entrance is shorter in men and lower
lacrimal duct obstruction is more frequent in women our results may suggests the diameter of bone entrance of the NLD in general population does not appear to be an influential factor in the pathogenesis of lower
lacrimal duct obstruction in Mexican population.
He is five years old now, has totally 18 abnormally developed sharp, sparse teeth (Figure-2), watering in the eyes due to
lacrimal duct obstruction, and inability speak due to bilateral sensorineural hearing loss for which cochlear implantation was recommended.

A Many babies have a small obstruction to the
lacrimal duct through which tears drain into the nose.
Signs and symptoms associated with nasal tooth include nasal obstruction, nasal discharge, abscess, ulceration, recurrent epistaxis, rhinitis caseosa, oronasal fistula, chronic sinusitis, facial pain, headaches, external nasal deviation, speech problems and occasionally no symptoms.1 Aspergillosis,8
lacrimal duct obstruction, rhinosinusitis, nasal septal perforation,7 oronasal communication and osteomyelitis are varying degrees of morbidity associated with a nasal tooth.
Eight patients had injuries to ductal/neurovascular structures including the facial nerve (n=5),
lacrimal duct (n=3) and superficial temporal artery (n=2).
If an atropine-based regimen such as ours is used, the systemic effect of ocular atropine can be avoided or minimised, by instilling it only once daily, using a microdropper for infants and digital pressure over the
lacrimal duct for five minutes after instillation of the atropine to reduce systemic absorption.
When cervical dilation is difficult, a series of small Hagar or
lacrimal duct dilators may be helpful (FIGURE, page 43).
